Atman DC WAW-3Atman has secured the largest financing in Poland for the expansion of its data centers. The agreement was signed by 6 financial institutions from Poland and Europe: Bank Pekao S.A., ING Polska, Kommunalkredit Austria AG, mBank S.A. and PZU Group, among others. RBC Capital Markets was instrumental in the negotiation of the agreement, providing advice and oversight throughout the entire process.

Atman has signed an agreement to finance the expansion of its data center facilities in the amount of PLN 1.35 billion. The loan will be used mainly for the construction of the new WAW‑3 campus in Duchnice near Warsaw, but also for the expansion of Atman‘s existing colocation facilities.

“The support provided to Atman by 6 leading financial institutions is the largest syndicated loan for data center development in Poland. The excellent condition of our company has been recognized by domestic and foreign financial institutions in the form of loans granted, which will enable further dynamic development of Atman as a leading data center player in Poland and the CEE region,” said Wojciech Sadowski, Chief Financial Officer, Atman.

In addition to standard financial requirements, the agreement places great emphasis on non-financial aspects related to energy efficiency and corporate sustainability (ESG) in all areas. The goal of Atman‘s efforts is primarily to reduce energy consumption and have a positive impact on the economic, social and natural environment.

“We strongly believe in the success of our first European data center investment, which will lead to further projects in this part of the world. We see the construction of the WAW‑3 campus as our group‘s flagship project in the Central European region,” said Doug Lane, Chief Financial Officer of Global Compute Infrastructure, the major shareholder of Atman.

The WAW‑3 data center campus will eventually house more than 50,000 servers in 3 buildings with a total net area of nearly 19,000 square meters for colocation of IT equipment. The first phase of the project, which began in October 2023 with the construction of the first building with 14.4 MW of IT capacity, will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024.

“According to many industry analysts, we are on the verge of a major growth wave in the data center market. Atman is investing in the construction of new facilities, seeing good prospects for commercialization related to the growing demand for data center services generated by the development of cloud computing and AI technologies. In recent years, Poland has become a prime data center location in Central and Eastern Europe for major global IT players,” said Slawomir Koszolko, Chief Executive Officer of Atman.

Atman sp. z o.o. has been leading the data center market in Poland since 2011, currently with a 15‑percent share in terms of net space for colocation, cloud and dedicated server services (source: PMR reports).
